I received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Science from Michigan State University. I went on to graduate school at Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health, where I studied addiction treatment program planning and received a Masters of Health Sciences degree.

I’ve also served as lead therapist at the St. David’s Hospital Eating Disorders Program in the early 1990s and been in private practice for over thirty years. I was an adjunct faculty at Austin Community College for 10 years, teaching in the Human Services Department.

Writing and photography are also a significant part of my life.
